Advanced arthroscopic knee surgery.
When you’ve torn ligaments in your knee or injured
tendons in your shoulder, trust our doctors to provide an
advanced solution to help you get back to your everyday lifestyle.
Through arthroscopic procedures, your condition can be remedied
in less time and with less discomfort than with traditional
surgery. They’re done on an outpatient basis, and only
small incisions and a short-acting anesthetic are needed.
Partial knee replacement for a total return to mobility.
Is your knee damaged by arthritis or an injury? Do you find
it hard to perform simple activities such as walking or climbing
stairs? You may even be feeling pain while you’re sitting
or lying down. If medications, changing your activity level
and using walking supports are no longer helpful, you may
need knee surgery. If so, consider Dr. Joel Heiser or Dr.
Andrew Cooperman. Fortunately, you may not need a total knee
replacement. Dr. Heiser and Dr. Cooperman are two of the
first doctors in the North County area to perform minimally
invasive partial knee surgery.
Alternatives
to total knee replacement.
One option to total
knee replacement is unicompartmental arthroplasty. This
replaces only the arthritic portion of the knee with a metal
and plastic prosthesis. It is really one-half of a total
knee replacement. There is a faster recovery time, smaller
scars and less pain compared to a standard replacement.
To determine if you
are a candidate for a partial knee surgery, the doctors
will do a thorough evaluation that consists of your medical
history, a physical examination, X-rays and an MRI if necessary.
